George points out this doorway to me as an example of a formerly Jewish home in Tykocin. Even after all these years, it is still possible to see the faint outline of a long-gone mezuzah on the doorframe. I suspect that the graffiti is also somehow related to the fact that this home was once occupied by Jews.
