My Visit To
Poland

October 11, 1999: Krakow
Kollataj House Doorway 1200x1600
(204 KB)

This ornate doorway is the entrance to a house that used to be owned by an order of Cistercian monks. It is believed that the order was rebuilding a monastery in Jedrzejow (about 60 miles to the north) at the time, and had the same architects create this doorway for their Krakow residence. I took this photo mainly because I liked the contract between the elaborate Baroque architecture and the more modern KPMG plaque.
