My Visit To
Poland

October 10, 1999: Krakow and Auschwitz
Rynek Glowny (Main Square) 1600x1200 (408 KB)

Back in Krakow, I decide that, since I'm leaving tomorrow, this would be a good time to take in a few more of the sights.

The Rynek Glowny is just a few blocks from my hotel – and even though the tourist season ended some time ago, the huge square is always crowded and colorful. It's the largest town square in Poland – and although I'm not certain that this is true, I've read that it's the largest in all of Europe. It was designed in 1257 – and even after nearly 750 years, it still retains its original layout.
