October 4, 1999: Warsaw
Plaque on Former Jewish Ghetto Hospital 640x480 (134 KB)

"August 1, 1944. In the early hours of the Warsaw uprising, a detachment of Polish troops under the command of Lieutenant Stanislaw Sosabowski, after a fight with a detachment of Nazi SS troops, captured this building, liberating about 50 Jews who had been deported from various European countries. After these actions, the troops participated in the battle with the enemy. On the 46th anniversary of the uprising, this plaque was dedicated in homage to and for the glory of the detachment."
